Meet Dwight & Brittany

Hey! So glad you’re checking us out. Brittany and I are a small-town couple from the Hill Country of Texas. We love the Lord and are committed to living out those values.

I was born on the 4th of July and later joined the US Air Force. I served our country for 20 years and deployed to combat zones five times. After my first three years of military service, I realized that I had a deep desire to marry and start a family. A bit of a crazy story, by not uncommon for military members, is our marriage story. As I was changing stations from Lajes Field, Azores to Andersen Air Force Base, Guam, I stopped by our hometown of Junction Texas and knew I wanted Brittany to come with me to Guam.  So, during my three week visit in my home town we reconnected and we married three months later at Two Lover’s Point in Tumon Bay, Guam.

Within our first two years of marriage, we had an extended honeymoon on Guam and traveled all over the Pacific. We very much enjoyed our life before kids, traveling, scuba diving, and made some great lifelong friends while stationed overseas. We both consider ourselves to be adventurous and Guam was a perfect fit for us. We are so grateful for our time on the small and beautiful island!

The Air Force moved us back to the mainland and we were blessed to live in Colorado Springs, CO for the next twelve years. Our time in COS allowed us to become parents to three amazing children through the gift of adoption.  After a few years in Colorado, it brought us the season of wiping butts and noses! (If you’ve not met me in person yet, you’ll soon discover I like fun and throwing in opportunities to bring others laughter!)

Before the children, you would find us boogying up the mountains to hit the slopes and among our awesome friends in COS, I was known for my straight lining skills down the mountain and also picked up the love for mountain biking.

Colorado Springs also brought us much opportunity to transform. We both grew significantly in our faith as we served on the marriage ministry team at First Pres in Colorado Springs and joined an amazing small group that we were with for ten years; our faith and love in the Lord grew tremendously. We still enjoy memories of times with our amazing lifelong friends in Colorado Springs.

Towards the end of our tour in Colorado Springs, while wanting to still be an adventures couple with young children, Brittany’s struggles with lupus started to become more of a factor. Even though we wanted to go go go and take in all the adventures, she would often feel achy and overextended from time in the sun. One afternoon, I remember watering the plants in the backyard and Brittany approached me about her desire to try a working with a health coach to lose weight. I said “sure, go for it!” I’ve always wanted to be supportive of anything she desired. I had no idea that this program, which she was initially afraid to start, would be the answer she was looking for.  Not only did she lose a few pounds, but it was a catalyst for completely changing her health and ultimately our life!  It was only a few months of seeing her transformation that I joined and started my journey with Brittany together.

The rest is history!  Now, we are full time health coaches, living a much more prosperous and abundant life. We both moved forward in our health in body, mind and finance.  We love serving others well. We work hard and have grown tremendously personally and as a couple to be entrepreneurs who are able to set our own schedules and be our own boss! Creating our dreams and helping others create theirs has become our passion and we love paying forward what we’ve learned.

Dwight

Hey there Friends! I echo Dwight’s words… thanks for stopping by and learning about our Love & Serve Well mission.

I truly cannot be more amazed by the blessings we’ve received in our life and marriage. We deeply desire to serve at a high level to assist others to become all they’re called and equipped to be. I believe that everyone is a masterpiece and is needed in this world to be their very best!

I, like Dwight, grew up in Junction, Texas. I always loved achieving and working hard. In high school, I was active in sports and 4H and loved excelling in all things, especially running cross country, leading, and writing/journalism. When I went to college, I struggled to know what I wanted to do as a career. I was on track to finish school and marry and so I obtained a teaching degree and license so that I knew I could secure a job back in Junction with my first marriage. I was checking all the boxes on my list until my life came to an abrupt stop in 2002 when, after trying infertility treatments, I threw a blood clot in my heart thus requiring open heart surgery. My life fell apart in the next two years; during that time, I was hospitalized eight times in fourteen months, went through a divorce, sold the beautiful home my first husband and I built, and I felt incredibly embarrassed and out of place as a 25-year-old.  Lost, divorced, and living back at home with my parents was the reality, until… Dwight came back to town.

Because of the pain, the idea of a “new life” was quite captivating. While it hasn’t always been easy, Dwight and I have together grown so much, and it’s been an amazing journey.  From life on Guam and him helping me to step out of my comfort zone with adventures, like scuba diving with sharks in the Pacific to being moved by the US Air Force to Colorado Springs.  Experiencing adventures like climbing Pike’s Peak, one of Colorado’s fourteeners, to bringing home our three precious children, our life has been so blessed.  God really began working on me back in 2002 when my life began to fall apart; He really began speaking to me in a new way in 2009 when I became convicted to start making my days start with Him.  I became a student of the Word and love starting most all my days with quiet time in the Word. This has been the main source of my undoing.

Our life in Colorado gave me opportunities to learn so much and be made new - from being diagnosed with lupus, learning to practice and teach yoga, running three half marathons, experiencing ten years in a small group to learn and grow in my faith, I continued a path of figuring out who I am and what I have been equipped to do to impact this world. I also appreciate the experiences I gained while being a first grade teacher and school counselor in Texas, Guam for DoDEA, and in Colorado Springs. Life has been so full, and I am so grateful.

Adopting the three children I am blessed to parent has also taught me so very much! One of the first things you learn when you desire to become a parent through adoption is that trauma and loss are a huge part of this amazing process. This has really paved the way for me to face things head on with persistence and seeking understanding.

All of this has come together in recent years to allow me to truly learn that I am equipped in this game called life. I have come to realize that all the tests I have endured are my testimony, and each experience, even if it was a challenge, allowed me to become foundational, and confident in the process. In addition, when I am fully present and aware, conscious of what’s in front of me, I receive it, and can allow even the hard, to be a gift to make me stronger and more equipped to help others. I realize the process is ongoing and I deeply desire to continue to run this race with perseverance and passion for helping others to keep going and striving for better health and better days in the one life we are all given. Each second, each hour, each day, each year is a gift and when we can approach it with love, we can truly find the gift available. With Dwight, we invite you to consider what’s next for you as you think about a prosperous and abundant life.
